In a time of economic crisis when the main discussion in Washington seems to be if there should be a stimulus or a jobs program its interesting to see how a political candidate advertises for help to build a website. Now I for one am happy to see that sort of work appear on a job site and most likely it will go to one of the lower bidders but what I find interesting is that a State Representative running for office would not think to add some verbiage into the job description such as ‘US candidates only’ or even something about ‘Michigan based providers given preference’. I may be wrong but even something as simple as a website, if it goes off shore, would be political ammunition for any opposition candidate or group. What do you think?
I think I will keep an eye on this Job on Elance - http://www.elance.com/c/rfp/main/rfpBid.pl?jobid=18976113

Here to agree AND complain
Hey Dylan!
I was wondering why the US hasn't rolled out a $10 Billion program disbursing $1 million to 10,000 US STARTUPS with stipulations such as must outsource a set amount to US COMPANY, hire x amount of workers - job creation and a major cash INJECTION that would kickstart a jolt ...over reaching is it? sure would put the US WAAAAAAAAAY ahead IMHO.
There is something else I'd like to squeeze in here. Why is it so difficult for DNN to at least MIMIC what is going on far as design trends NOTICEABLE in Web2.0 - and working - usability? Does the DNN community desperately need to train and recruit new UI developers/designers?
2 things highly critical in success or fail of a web app/community.
PERFORMANCE & USABILITY/look and feel.
It's that simple - simplicity. gee, look at all the darn PHP sites out there that have it right. wordpress even.
Just something that I've noticed and am very frustrated with...almost makes me want to jump ship. really.
or maybe I need to really sharpen my skills as a skin developer (who is going to front the cost?) - but this still leaves DotNetNuke core functionality look and feel.

Re: Online Jobsites and Politics – A Rant Maybe?
Well not really a place for a rant about the DNN usability issues - but yes DNN corp does need to address them. Heres a thought though its open source - maybe if you have some ideas you could make some much better usable modules and offer them up for inclusion in the core - just a thought!
Anyway thanks for the comment - not sure i agree that we should require money be spent locally but if we dont then we just make the problem that much worse in the long run.
