On Twitter Antonio Chagoury came through with a nice little tweet about his new tag cloud module, DNN Universal Tag Cloud.
The module is a nice tight package and integrates into the search provider for DNN so you have to have that enabled on the portal. I was able to quickly install the package without any problems on my DNN install and add it to my Blog page without any hiccups at all (look to the left here to see it in action).
The setup for the module is very simple and straight forward. Click on settings and pick where you want the tag cloud generated from, how many tags to generate, if you want an RSS feed of the tags, and if people can sort the tags. Click update and the tag cloud is there. Clicking on a tag takes you to a search for that term. You can even designate an outside search results page such as Google if you want, great for generating a little extra income.
By picking all of the relevant modules in my site I was able to quickly generate a search cloud page that links to Google using my publisher id for Google adsense. See it here (Search Cloud).
Until DNN core blog module adds this in this is a good alternative to rolling your own, which can be a pain. The best part is you can make clouds for any modules that tie into the search provider. So if you are using Ventrian’s articles module you could now easily make a tag cloud for all your articles using this module. Lots of possibilities and lots of ways to use it.

Re: Clouds on the horizon, InspectorIT’s new Universal Tag Cloud
Dylan,
Thanks for the great review! I love your idea of making a little money by generating a Cloud with ALL terms - nifty!
Just a note to everyone... as long as a module implements the ISearchable interface, then this module can generate a tag cloud for its content. For instance, we are using the module on our Support forum which pulls the data from Active Forums! - That's cool stuff! (if I may say so myself hehe)
Once again, thank you!
